Biography
Amparo Tarrega is Researcher at IATA-CSIC since 2017. She received her Ph.D. in Food Science (2005) at the University of Valencia awarded with the “Premio Extraordinario de Tesis Doctoral”. She has developed part of her scientific work in foreign reputed institutions: Cornell University, USA, INRA Dijon (France) and the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom). She leads a team (2 tenured researchers, 4 postdocs, 4 Ph.D. students, and 1 technician) that conducts internationally recognised research in the Sensory and Consumer Science field and provides a consumer-centred support to the Food Industry. Main research lines include understanding sensory perception mechanisms based in the Food Oral Processing perspective and the application of advanced methods in gathering and analysing consumer’s perception and behaviour.
She has published over 100 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals with over 3500 citations (H-index of 35 on Web of Science) as well as numerous book chapters. She is Chair of AEPAS- Spanish Professionals Association of Sensory Science since 2019 and a member of the Committee for Standardization 87 (Sensory Analysis) of AENOR since 2016. She has leaded research projects in collaboration with national and international institutions (IVIA, UPV, UPM, Uvic, AINIA, INRA, Aarhus University) and companies (Unilever, Mars, SIRO, DACSA, ALNUT).
